Why do this?

Running makes me a better person, a better wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend. I have experienced some of my most memorable times of solitude and prayer while running. The world and it's worries disappear when it's just me, nature and the Creator of us both. The only sounds I hear are the birds, crickets and grasshoppers serenading me to the rhythm of my breath. I pretend they are cheering me on. Other times I embrace the peace found in no thought at all.

I am married to the sweetest, most honorable, loving and hilarious man. Derrick is such a blessing. He is an exceptional Dad and he makes me laugh every day. If it were not for his support and encouragement I would not be starting this blog. Derrick is the one who encouraged me to go for my first half-marathon when I didn't believe I could do it. He watches the kids on Saturday mornings while I go for my long runs and puts up with my marathon training mood swings. I love him madly.

I am starting this blog to raise awareness, support and prayer for a ministry that is very dear to my heart. I stumbled upon a reason to run during my first marathon and afterwards wondered if I could have finished without it. My passions collide and it is a privilege to take on this adventure. I am so thankful for anyone who takes a look at this blog, I consider you all friends. Lets go for a run.
